Without a doubt, one issue every Christian should be concerned with is abortion. The best theology, science, and philosphy shows that conception marks the beginning of human personhood, and that to move “personhood” to some point later in the development is arbitrary at best, and politically motivated at worst. In other words, properly defined, abortion is the unwarranted killing of another human being, which in other contexts we simply call murder.

For Christians to sit in our sanctuaries and sing our hymns while turning a blind eye to the plight of the unborn is atrocious. We simply cannot do it. We must stand up, and, in this case, walk for those without a voice.

For many years, Sav-A-Life Bessemer has helped the unborn, and their mothers, look away from abortion and to other alternatives. I can’t think of a better way to be personally involved in helping children live, then to walk with Sav-A-Life for the glory of God. Director Becky McDonough will be at RMLBC Jan. 17 to help motivate our congregation to make a difference.

The Walk for Life is scheduled for Feb. 6 at 10AM, at Pleasant Ridge Family Life Center.

A John Piper sermon dealing with abortion. Listen for motivation!

Check out this story about a Planned Parenthood director in Texas who now sees life in a new light.

From a speech about the Jewish Holocaust by President Obama, April 23:

“It is the grimmest of ironies that one of the most savage, barbaric acts of evil in history began in one of the most modernized societies of its time, where so many markers of human progress became tools of human depravity: science that can heal, used to kill; education that can enlighten, used to rationalize away basic moral impulses; the bureaucracy that sustains modern life, used as the machinery of mass death, a ruthless, chillingly efficient system where many were responsible for the killing, but few got actual blood on their hands.”

The best science and philosophy are clear: human personhood begins at conception (a great article showing this). Thus, we are seeing a silent holocaust in our own day. Why then does our leader not come to their rescue? Read the president’s entire speech.

Thanks to Dr. Craig Carter for pointing out the incredible ironies contained in this quote.

The best medical, biological, and philosophical evidence indicates that abortion is the unjustified killing of a viable human person, who has the intrinsic right to life (legally speaking this is usually considered murder). The abortion debate is often so fueled with emotion, that people miss the powerful evidence. I encourage everyone to read this very well written article which analytically brings to the surface many of the reasons abortion is immoral.

Does it require thinking? Yes. Does it require time? Yes. I encourage you to use your mind and time on this article. It will educate and inspire.
