Solving the Problem of Death Audio Message

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

LISTEN HERE

Preached at Clearview Baptist Church Sunday, May 17

Synopsis

In 1 Corinthians 15, the Apostle Paul makes the case that Christians survive death via resurrection. This is good news for folks who long to live, as all people were designed to do. It is amazing, however, how people refuse to come to Christ to definitively solve the problem of death, and instead turn to other potential solutions which do not work. For example, cryopreservation (which means to suspend a dead body in liquid nitrogen, with the hopes that the person can be revived again one day) is becoming more and more popular as a way of solving the problem of death. Instead of this pipe dream, Jesus has removed the sting of death by becoming sin for us. He has shielded us from the wrath of God. He has solved the problem of death, for his glory and for our good. AMEN!

Dr. Steve Cowan, who has taught me more than perhaps any other human on the planet, and who graciously wrote the foreword to Contend, has contributed a short article on the meaning of life from the Christian worldview perspective to the Patheos website.

You should check it out, it is very encouraging.
